On snow-covered mountain slopes, a skiing champion is “giving the future women of the world the confidence to move mountains”. That is the slogan of the Lindsey Vonn Foundation. If there is anyone who is aware of what it takes to overcome setbacks and go beyond personal limits, it is Olympic downhill gold medallist Lindsey Vonn.

Vonn is one of the most successful alpine skiers ever, including both men and women. She has won some over 80 races, two World Championship titles and set records for World Cup honours. Thanks to

her foundation, she is also gaining a reputation as someone who cares about giving back. “Outside of skiing, I think I’m most proud of starting my foundation.

Our goal is to empower and inspire young girls. And I think that was one of the best things, honestly, that came out of being injured,” she explains. “I think what I’ve learned over the course of my career and in my life is that, no matter what obstacle you face, you can always overcome it.” You can use the experience as something that will help you down the road. Stay positive and it will teach you something and hopefully make you a better person.”

While Vonn has always loved ski racing, her life changed the day she met her childhood idol, Olympic skier Picabo Street. “She really inspired me to want to be an Olympic champion. I think little things can make a big impact and help change a life.” Through meaningful acts of kindness and support, the Lindsey Vonn Foundation hopes to impart the same confidence and fiery passion that helped Vonn achieve success. “It’s not about what everyone else says, it’s about what you do and how you do it that matters.
