When Savannah Mitchell founded Sunday Morning Coffee Company in 2021, she knew gaining traction in the male-dominated industry would be a challenge. What Mitchell didn’t realize however, was just how quickly her business would grow due to its focus on the culture of the coffee experience as opposed to simply serving a cup of coffee.
The e-commerce business now has 14 luxurious blends that are sold to companies and customers across the country through her website and major retailers including Amazon, Staples and Wegmans.
As Mitchell’s business has grown, so too have the opportunities to expand her footprint. For example, through the LPGA VendorMatch program, which sources local and diverse suppliers for select tournaments and LPGA headquarters, Sunday Morning Coffee Company supplied all the coffee for the 2023 Cognizant Founders Cup in Clifton, New Jersey.
“The LPGA VendorMatch really is a dream for a small or new business,” said Mitchell. “Being able to collaborate with major organizations like this can change the trajectory of a company.”
Sunday Morning Coffee Company was just one of three women-owned businesses to take advantage of the LPGA VendorMatch program at the Cognizant Founders Cup.
Randi Goldberg didn’t hesitate when offered the opportunity to showcase her company Clearly Branded at one of the LPGA Tour’s premier tournaments. Specializing in compelling promotional product solutions on the local and global scale, Clearly Branded provided lanyards, credentials, and wristbands for hospitality throughout the tournament.
“Seeing people wearing the wristbands and lanyards was fantastic,” said Goldberg. “As a small business, and a certified woman-owned business, we really appreciate any opportunity we can to show what we can do.”
In fact, people weren’t the only ones to benefit from Clearly Branded being on-site. Goldberg and her team fulfilled a special one-off request to create a custom credentialed dog collar for the Upper Montclair Country Club’s maintenance dog.
“The beauty of being a small business is we’re nimble… we can be flexible,” Goldberg said. “For instance, they asked us if we could help them out as a gift for the superintendent who has a dog on-site. So we can do one dog collar or we can do a million items!”
The desire to make a positive impact on someone’s life is exactly what each of these small businesses share. For Rosemary Devlin, it was a near-death experience that served as the impetus in her creation of Living Juice, a 100% cold-pressed juice with nothing added. The goal of her company is simple: Build a community for healthy living.
All the juices are created fresh with certified organic fruits and vegetables. Living Juice utilizes a two-step juicer with a separate grinder and cold press to maximize the availability of nutrients, vitamins, enzymes, and minerals. With nutrition being so important for professional athletes, it was a perfect match when Living Juice was selected in the LPGA VendorMatch program to be offered in player dining at the Cognizant Founders Cup.
Being selected for an opportunity like this is one thing, but seeing everything come together in person is another. As a black- and woman-owned business, Sunday Morning Coffee Company takes advantage of every opportunity to grow its brand and shatter that glass ceiling.
“It’s just unimaginable to know that something that started as an opportunity became real,” said Mitchell. “Our team has been celebrating all year because we felt really good about this opportunity. It’s just been surreal, and the LPGA has just been a dynamic collaboration for us.”
