Cheyenne Woods has continued her family’s storied history in the golf world by taking her place amongst the best on the LPGA Tour, earning two professional wins. She's a graduate of Wake Forest University and enjoys hiking, ping pong and traveling the world.

The U.S. Open is by far my favorite event of the year. There is something special about playing in your country’s national championship. With just one step onto tournament property, you get that instant adrenaline rush through your body.

This year’s event was hosted in Bedminister, New Jersey and is the third U.S. Women’s Open I have competed in. This one week will both mentally and physically challenge each player due to the demanding conditions that a U.S. Open traditionally brings. It is a true test for every player in the field.

This year I captured a few moments to share with you all that will give you an inside look at things that go on in preparation for a major championship on the LPGA tour.

“I love seeing young girls excited about golf! Practice rounds are a great time to interact with fans.”
“Unlike other events for us on the LPGA tour, practice rounds are scheduled ahead of time. First come first serve!”
“At registration, each player receives the tournament gift, yardage book and all credentials for the week.”
“My locker for the week. Both of my sponsors Bridgestone and Nike will deliver product here such as 4 dozen golf balls for the week in addition to my apparel for competition rounds.”
“For every Major Championship, Nike Golf will send my apparel to the tournament site. This package always includes a script of clothing for me to wear Thursday-Sunday.”
“Practice rounds are a great opportunity to play with friends and learn the golf course.”
“US Open prep focuses a lot on and around the greens. The tournament will put nets such at these in any collection areas around the greens to protect the grass for championship rounds.”
“Monday through Wednesday are an opportunity to work with any coaches you might have on sight. Here I had the opportunity to be in the practice round group with Lynn Marriott and Pia Nielsen, world renowned mental coaches I have worked with on and off for the last 2 years.”
“Rain or shine, the practice must go on.”
“Practice areas are busy before and after practice rounds. Fox Sports was on sight filming practice sessions in addition to the championship rounds.”
“New putter grip! Paul Boehmer is onsite for players who need any equipment check ups or tweaks.”
“My final prep Wednesday night before Round 1 of the championship includes going through my yardage book notes, mentally preparing the the days ahead.”
