Fall is associated with the changing colors of leaves from green to orange, red, yellow and brown. Many popular fall foods in the United States match the season’s colors, such as roasted sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, butternut squash soup, cranberry sauce, corn bread stuffing, green bean casserole, brussels sprouts, apple pie and pumpkin pie (pumpkin everything!). These are all delicious foods, but they are not easily portable to bring to the course. (Although, I realize this is debatable if you don’t mind bringing a food container and utensils to the course…)
I’ve created numerous golf snack lists over the years, but I never considered them in color groups. Below are some fall-colored and healthy snack options to fuel your practice or round. To keep your energy and blood sugar levels steady throughout practice or a round of golf, include both carbohydrate and protein snacks. Pair a fruit or vegetable with cheese or turkey jerky. Pair pretzels and whole grain crackers with peanut butter or hummus. Mix your own trail mix with your favorite nuts, seeds and dried fruit. Look at the list to create something new to take on the course. You might discover something that works for you.
